The defeat at Southampton on the 13th May 2000 was the death knell of Wimbledon FC after Bradford beat Liverpool. Yet even with a below strength team due to injuries and John Hartson suspended Wimbledon had enough chances to win the game, but it was not to be. Eventually the club was "moved" to Milton Keynes to become MK Dons but out of the ashes of all of this came a new club run and owed by the supporters, AFC Wimbledon and already just a couple of leagues away from what was the old Football League. Long may they reign, watchout MK Dons we're coming to get you!
PS All the very best to John Hartson in his brave fight against cancer

  • Shame stevenage had to spoil what could have been, I guess the club & the other "club" will meet when the time is right.

  • @FevDuo The time was not right, if the performance against Stevenage was anything to go by they would have been easily beaten anyway. Stevenage completely outplayed and outmuscled AFC in the first half. AFC played better in the second half but the damage was already done. They have a long way to go yet to get to League standard

    thanks for watching

  • @hollpoll Not that long! 8 months after your comment and they now are league standard. Not had a bad start in L2 either.

  • @FlaviusConstantius I'm glad to be proved wrong !

  • Being a Man. United supporter (hold your disdain), I always loved the games against the Dons, and would go for them when they didn't cross paths. It's a shame it had to happen, and I agree, I hope Wimbledon and MK meet up...

  • The Hartson goal still nearly brings a team to my eye.

  • As a Liverpool supporter I'd like to apologise for my team being too shite to beat Bradford >.< Hope to see the REAL Dons in the Football League next season . . .

  • @MrTvfreak2008 please Lord lets see MK Dons vs AFC in the Cup!

  • I can absolutely agree with her. If they do ever cross paths, a riot or a massive punch up between the two is forseeable, as well as a big grudge match.
