Carl WAS the Beach Boys for me; I saw them 22 times, from 8/64, to that terrible 11/97 show without Carl, when we all suspected we'd never see or hear him again. I recall how " off" themusic was, & how no one in that audience--Thousand Oaks Civic Center, even cared. All we talked aboutwas Carl. His Class, his Professionalism on stage, & that Angelic voice--a voice that could sing anything--that was The Beach Boys,. Dennis was The Spirit, BW was The Genius,, & Carl--was the Heart. Wolfsky9

i got to sit in the front row at a concert in 1990 or so. i just starred at carl during "god only knows." he glanced over in my direction a couple of times. that was enough.

This song has a very special place in my heart. My mother was the one who originally introduced me to the music of The Beach Boys. She passed away from cancer in January of 2003.

A year later on my birthday a friend got me the "Like A Brother" cd. From the moment this song began I probably experienced the closest thing to a spiritual moment that I ever had in my entire life. Just an overwhelming feeling of peace and I consider it to be my mother's final birthday gift to me.
