Thanks for watching my video! Please leave a comment! If you have any requests, let me know.

Sorry for the long wait, but I'm still cooking food!

Kare-kare is a Filipino stew that consists of vegetables, beef ox tail, and a peanut sauce. My version is very bare-bones, as I have not included some regular ingredients like beef tripe, puso ng saging (banana blossom), or bagoong (shrimp paste). Nonetheless, I think that my version has some merit in that I do not use a pre-packaged flavoring packet, but instead roast my own rice flour and add atsuete (anatto) for thickening, color, and flavoring.

Sitaw = Chinese string beans
Talong = eggplant
Petsay = bok choy
Atsuete = achiote/anatto powder

  • Hey Wilmar - this is good stuff. I was just wondering whether at times you use beef tripe in this or is it ox tail all the way?

    Cheers!

  • @MacktheNice i personally use ox tail only, but adding beef tripe wouldn't change the recipe any other way. go for it!

  • hey kuya wilmar it's me again one question why are you making sure that there is no pressure left??? what will happen if you open it but there are more pressure??

  • if there's enough pressure, you might not even be able to open the lid. but the real reason is because you might cause the lid to fly off the pot and have steam and hot soup spill all over, which is very dangerous.

  • where are you america or philippines

  • america
