As I have mentioned there are differences between the Cossack Shashka and the Circassian Sashkoa.

Shashka is a Cossack sword inspired by the Sashkoa, the Circassian sword.

Shashka is a Russian word based on the circassian word, Sashkoa. It can either mean the cossack saber or a smoke grenade. Shashka is not a circassian word, neither is Shashka a circassian sword.

There is a difference between the Cossack shashka and Circassian "Sashkoa", the blade of the shashka is shorter for one.

Shashka is a Russian word. And I just told you that there are different types of shashka, circassian inspired type is the one pictured in the vid and most popular with Cossacks.

Where are different variations of Shashka, the one used by Cossacks of South Russia (and associated with cossacks in general) was inspired by the blades wielded by indigenous peoples of the region (who are circassian) its more of a mix of Russian and Circassian tradition.
