Hi divaexpatriate,
It was brought to my attention by an accomplished bellydancer in America that she felt the last thing that gets attention is the intentional use of hand positions. It's hard to tell in a montage, but from moments when the camera and editing is still, there are times when the hands show that very common, unconscious movement, usually of one's dominant hand. The more you watch troupe work, for example, the more you start noticing this phenomenon. What do you think?

do you think she's overdancing the hands?

I took a moment to compare a more recent clip with this video. The other was a montage, so it was difficult to see the arm movements. I'm always impressed to see others learning Egyptian bellydance, especially if you don't get to travel to learn from others. One thing that would make this spectacular for upcoming students: make them learn ballet arm positions. It prevents the hands from being everywherem or over-dancing the hands. Much success to you.
