Immanuel St. Josephs — Mayo Health System today asked the publics help to reduce the spread of the flu and announced a delay in the availability of the seasonal flu vaccine.
If you are generally healthy and develop flu-like symptoms, we are asking you not to come to the Emergency Department, Urgent Care or your primary care provider, says Brian Whited, M.D., Medical Director at Immanuel St. Josephs. We are also asking people with flu-like symptoms to avoid visiting patients in the hospital. These simple but important steps can help reduce the spread and severity of the flu this season.
Officials from both organizations noted guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health which recommend staying home and away from health care facilities if patients do not have underlying medical conditions other than flu-like symptoms.
