In this video I will show you how to make aluminum oxide for boiling chips.

WARNING THIS PROCEDURE USES EXTREMELY HIGH TEMPERATURES. HAVE APPROPRIATE SAFTEY PROCEDURES AND USE FACE SHIELDS.

First you will need some aluminum hydroxide I made in a previous video. Link below.

To make aluminum oxide you simply need to decompose the hydroxide by heating it very hot. I will be using a propane blow torch. I made a simple furnace by taking some bricks and staking them so I can heat the hydroxide easily and simply.

Use the torch to heat the hydroxide It will start to flake apart as the water expands to steam. I heated for about 15 minutes.

When you are done heating let the aluminum oxide cool and put in a labled bottle.
