  • It turns out that my father is the one who actually rebuilt this plane. He bought it from someone in Long Beach, CA in the 1970's and had it shipped to our house in Illinois. He spent the next 3 years rebuilding this plane in our garage. we moved to Florida in 1979. He sold it to Kermit Weeks in 1980's. I was so proud to see it perform in the Shell Air and Sea show. I can't believe I've actually been in this plane so many times. My father passed away May 8, 1999. This is a nice tribute to him.

  • So very glad to see the old duck making a come back. These are very cool old airplanes and it was a waste to hear of them just rotting away. But with the war bird movement, they too are now showing up at air shows in better then new shape.......wow!!!!

  • I know there's a window in the lower fuselage, but am curious as to how many people the Duck was designed to carry? Anyone?

  • Very good exept for the fact that it's in Spanish. Can u add subtitles? Btw great footage of it landing and coming out of the water! Is it yours?

  • I + my dad Thank you, My Marine father was a crew chief n the Pacfic and had a DUCK named "Besty". Sadly, she burnd to the ground 3 days after he went home. Then he was called back to fly Corsairs in Korea and flew most every Grumman type . I know hes here watching this with me, his 45 old baby boy. He passed of A/L/S when I was six years old, so I never really knew him.

I do know, we both will always will love vintage aircraft.

God Bless Dad, I hope you take me flying some day soon.

  • One of the statements from the brazilian narrator says (in brazilian portuguese) "It`s what is best and more versatile in amphibious flying machines". More precise and reasonable would say that it "WAS one of the more versatile" amphibious of its time...

  • Is this the same Grumman Duck that my father, John Seidel rebuilt? He sold it to Kermit Weeks.

  • was the duck able to take off and land on land

  • Monopod
