@keepeyeongoal reverse breathing open the back channel (the meridian channel) where chi travel to the mouth supply with saliva and the brain which then descent back to stomack then get hit up and got up again, the Chinese call this the wheel of life (the secret to longevity)

@free2rym99 much better because it open the meridian channel !

Reverse breathing is what we naturally do when we push a heavy object or get attacked or have to exert ANY power with the whole body (unless we have an over tight/restricted lowback)....this is just learning how to bring that natural power under our conscious...so we know how to let it happen by getting out of its way when we need to exert power
And NO this is not "just chest breathing"..it is breathing into the BACK with the abdomen if that description makes sense.
-
Isn't this just chest breathing? I don't know about the chi mechanics of chest breathing, but I thought stomache breathing was better for your health. Well I guess it's ok in moderation.

normal breathing when you inhale your stomach swells out and when you exhale your stomach goes out? what if your normal breathing is the opposite, inhale stomach in, exhale stomach out?

Thankyou :)

When I do karate, I find it helps to just breathe simply. But this is useful! I'm in a band, but sometimes we like to experiment with vocals, so I do like the reverse of yelling. I suck in air while I sing instead of breathing out (like normal) and it give this really cool, scary voice. Gotta close my throat so you can hear it though.

can it help me while playing judo and grappling?

how does the chi flow when doing this?
ditto. how?

If you're looking for a tradional chinese medicine rationale involving meridians and qi flow, google it. Physically, it strengthens the collagen mesh, including fascia, in yourlower torso.
