These horses are happy. These animals were bred to work and be mentally/physically stimulated.
PETA fails to realize that 90% of dogs and horses BRED BY HUMANS were bred to RESPOND and DEPEND on humans. If they don't support people interfering with animals- then they do not support most dogs, cats or horses. Another shining example of they're astounding tendancy towards hypocracy.
FUCK PETA. If you reallt want to help, donate to the ASPCA and other animal shelters!

@stephjuhler999 everytime you put a horse out in pasture they run like that! they are movement specialists and enjoy moving for the fun of it! kids let out on teh playground for recess run too.....
-
@BanTheCarriage oh yeah-racehorses are often ridden when they are too young and their growth plates havent closed. the stress put on their bodies is so extreme they often break bones just from running!
-
@BanTheCarriage racehorses have even shorter useful lives-four years would be alot for them. they could be champions, and then when they start slowing down, get sold to slaughter anyway. This happens ALL THE TIME. additionally they are kept in stalls except to train or race-it keeps their energy pent up. They NEVER see pasture-THAT is cruel confinement. racing is truely a horse industry that needs revamping. go bother the jockey club...
-
@BanTheCarriage where did this four years stat come from? that sounds ludicrious. it really isnt that hard to find a good home for your horse-and anytime you sell any horse they could end up going to someone who ends up selling them to slaughter....you just have no control over that.

@jta4jesus i used to weatch the am news out of NYC (since i live in a pa community that has many people who commute there), and there was one guy who just stepped off a curb and was hit by a truck.....
-
@jta4jesus there was rece34ntly an accident where a car driver rammed into the back of a carriage in philly. My dad is friends with the carriage driver who was thrown from teh carriage and seriously injured. The horse broke free (there were pieces of teh tack meant to break free in this event) and was fine.

@TKK333 UM....didnt you see the horses get on a trailer to go to this farm? I mean i'm visually impaired and I saw it! no where was it stated that this farm is in manhattan!

wow-I am amazed how early you retire hprses (unless he had a medical problem?). Thats very considerate of you-and you still have him and care for him which is wonderful! I LOVE to see horses play and enjoy teh snow-i remember my mare's first winter with me-she was 5 and stuck her nose in a snow drift and snorted! it was so funny! Billy is a laugh and a half!

Yeah they get to finally stretch their legs!
jyoung1963 2 years ago
They stretch their legs everyday. They are not stuck in a stall day after day like most "show" horses. Our horses get out at least 6 days a week for about 6-9 hrs. They get turn out every couple of months for months at a time. Our stalls are all box stalls. So, they strech their legs plenty! Would you be saying these things about the mounted police horses, too? Or are you just a fascist?!

TKK33 You are everything a PETArd is supposed to be, blind to the truth, a misinformed liar and nasty.
How can you live in such a small mind.

How do you know, that after your horse/s retire, they are going an appropriate setting? Do you reserve homes in shelters and sanctuaries for EVERY horse? And even if YOU do, you are just one driver.. what about the other 350 drivers? What do they do with their horses when they can no longer pull carriages? Can you ever be sure that the animals aren't just going to slaughter?
The average working life of a carriage horse is just FOUR years....

You people are obsesfed with slaughter. We find homes for our horses and my current horses have all worked for me for more than 4 years. You are full of it!
How about you prove your horrible lies accusations. Prove the horses only last 4 years, show where they go to slaughter.
You are a liar!
A parrott who repeats what yo hear, you know nothing.
I've been around for 22 years, you are a complete stranger telling me my horses only last 4 years.?!?
Arrogant imbecile.
