  • These are Black people of African decent. I really hate the term African Canadian or Aferican American. At the end of the Cival War in the United States only 2 precent of the black people in the states were born in Africa. So if you are born in Canada or the United States you are a Canadian or an American. My family came from Ireland but I do not call myself a Ireish Canadian.

  • Actually the Maroons built the third citadel.

  • @NeeBa1990 Actually... the Maroons were exiled from Jamaica to Nova Scotia 1765 for raging guerilla warfare against British slave owners. In the words of Jamaica's British governor, they were sent to "the top of the known world." Within two years of arriving, most Maroons had emigrated to Sierra Leone where they were instrumental in establishing Freetown, Sierra Leone's capital city.

  • @codymywolfdog

I'm with you-- I'm American not African American, especially just recent data of my paternal dna says that my fathers line has no african dna.

  • You know.. It's 2010 right?

  • i used to work on citadel hill. jamaican maroons didnt build the whole thing. they helped everybody else build it. and they came up on their own. we didnt go down there and snatch em up. the chose to be affiliated with the britsh empire. nobody stole any people to build it. and it was built to protect the city that now you folks live in now. dont like it? then go the hell to africa or some shit and stop crying about it.

  • dont like it. go home

  • Now that's cool. The bigger cannon at 1:21 is one of two that I used to play on when I was a kid. They were on display in front of the old courthouse and then moved to the new courthouse in Whitby Ontario They were here for decades. But it's great to see them back where they belong.

  • Aint that the fuckin' truth, Citadel Hill might as well be on the soil of Sierra Leone...

  • The third citadel wasn't revamped at all, it was only made of wood and dirt, as the first two had been, and had nearly fallen down before the fourth citadel began construction in 1828. The only part of the current citadel which exist from previous forts are some of the old wells, as even the hill itself was flattened to make more area for the fort.

  • Yeah Logikal isn't mistaken here, the Maroons did help to build the third citadel which was later revamped and turned into what you see in this video. Also just to clear this up, the Maroon's did NOT build the citadel as slaves, they were paid the same as the soldiers.
