I made this video on July 7th, 2007 in victorious celebration of Pope Benedict's motu proprio in which he states that the Missal of Bl. John XXIII was never abrogated. I hope you enjoy the video and the background organ music.

UPDATE: I believe that this piece by Bach was transcribed by Alexandre Guilmant. And, YES, I know the Latin needs improvement!

  • A little hint: You should write "Sancta Maria, Mater Dei...", not "Sancte Maria...".

(Sancte is the vocativ for a male saint).

  • I know...I've explained the mistakes in previous comments.

  • Bach wrote a Mass. This piece is a secular piece - it's a symphony. I have always loved to listen to it, and the day of the motu proprio, I made this video. It's not perfect. I like it the way it is. And no, this piece was not made for the Lutheran church.

  • I hate to be neurotic but it's Gloria Patri et Filio not Filius XD

  • Sorry, I'm taking Latin now, but I wasn't in the summer and was just becoming a traditionalist. Mea culpa! I'll try and remake this some day and fix all the mistakes.

  • EXULTATE!!!!!!! JUBILATE!!!!!!!!!!

Oremus pro Pontifice nostro Benedictum XVI,

Dominus conservet eum et not tradat eum in manus inimicorum suorum.

  • I love this song, except when its the preludio for the third partita for violin in e Major.

  • Bellissimo video e stupenda musica !!!

    Deo gratias !

  • Absolutely beautiful video! Christus vincit! Christus regnat! Christus imperat! Exaudi, Christe! This current papacy is a good sign for the things to come in Holy Mother Church.

  • Hey, for the organists out there: the organ piece is the Sinfonia BWV 29; transcribed for organ by Alexandre Guilmant. So full of joy and celebration!! Thanks.

  • Amazing mate!!! thanks :)

  • DEO GRATIAS!!!!

  • Keep faith, my friend, God's will will prevail.

  • BMV 025

It's from his Symphonia of the same BMV - but you need it transcribed by the right person. This particular transcription is difficult to find, as it is actually a little sloppy, so go with the one by A. Guillemant. You can find it for free on the internet quite easily. It's great fun to play!
