RX-8 Test Drive at Mazfest 2007: Spec Miata Battle

Track: Buttonwillow, Config. 1 CW (2007.07.08)
Car: 2004 Mazda RX-8 (w/ Eibach lowering springs)

The car has just gotten off my friend's first session, so the tires and engine are pretty much ready to go. By chance, I just happened to grid behind an NB Spec Miata racecar.

My thoughts in the car while on grid: "Ooo...this will be fun..."

Nice to see you chew on that Spec Miata. A lot of people say "sure, its just a Miata" but it also has about 180hp and weighs about 1800 pounds.. so great job!

That was a good vid to show what a basically stock (no engine mods!) rx-8 will do. I love em, their not the fastest car by far but the prestige and sound of a rotary.. man! I expect to see Mazda improving this car every year.. long live RWD!
