@fairymairah Finally, as for old ppl, sometimes they can`t "learn" to prevent themselves from being put in a home. Sometimes they`ve lost the mental capacity to make these decisions or if they`ve lost the phy. capacity to take care of themselves & no one is able to take care of them, so they have no choice. The state can`t force someone to quit their job to stay home & take care of their relative fulltime. So life is unfair & cruel sometimes.

@fairy 3) Sometimes a kid can go so out of control to the point they get into criminal activities & the parents lose all control & really don`t know what to do but try a group home as a way to save the kid from prison. So parents choose that route. If a child is causing hell in the home or even abuse to siblings & parents, should the kid be able to veto the parents? I`m not so sure of that, but is a group home the best option? Probably not, but sometimes parents feel like they`ve run out of opt.

@fairy Have you been in a group home? I think you`re right that ppl whether old or yng need to be protected from abuse & when group homes & foster care have a history of abuse then extra precautions need to be made, but to answer your question I don`t think it`s so simple. 1) most kids & disabled ppl don`t have $ for a lawyer 2) most kids & disabled ppl have legal guardians who have the legal right to make decisions for them w/the assumption most guardians are doing things for the good. cont

@paisleyyama IT'S NOT THAT I'M BEING LOUD ON PURPOSE BUT I WANT TO BE HEARD AND WHY CAN'T IT BE POSSIBLE FOR KIDS TO USE THE LAWYER OR THE LAW ITSELF TO PREVENT THEIR PARENTS FROM PUTTING THEM IN A STUPID GROUP HOME IN FIRST PLACE AND WHY CAN'T OLD PEOPLE LEARN TO DO THE SAME THING ? ? ? ? ?

@annonamyst Another scenerio is sometimes kids who have gotten into legal trouble are sent to group homes instead of juvenile hall. So it is their legal sentence. However, if these homes are abusive, the kids should be able to report them & just like CPS does to parents, a case worker should take the kids out of the situation while an investigation is done. Unfortunately, kids in trouble w/the law, are swept under the carpet & no one in authority cares if abuse is done to them IMO.
-
@annonamyst I agree there should be some way for kids & adults (the retarded & handicapped adults are sent to group homes against their will too) to be able to say "no", but I think the argument that would be presented would be the ppl are minors or mentally/physically incapable of making these decisions for themselves OR in some cases families are the ones that dump these ppl in the homes so if they leave they have no where else to go & no one to care for them so it`s a horrible trap.

@paisleyyama i not only agree but why can't there be a law agianst making anybody live in a GROUP HOMES against their will and i heard that happiness is evil becuase of oppresion in this planet. not just group homes :/ ! !

HOW COME IT'S NOT POSSIBLE IN REAL LIFE FOR PEOPLE TO PREVENT THEIR RELATIVES FROM PUTTING THEMSELVES INTO GROUP HOMES IN THE FIRST PLACE. AND HOW COME NO ONE ACT LIKE LAWS CAN DO NO WRONG IN SOCIETY :( IT BOTHERS ME ALL THE TIME AND WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO PREVENT OTHERS FROM BEING INDEPENDENT FOR A STUPID GROUP HOME IN THE FIRST :/ ! ! ! ! !

I mean think about it? How is a parent to control their child if he is out of control?
Hummm you do anything and you are abusing your child.. but if they are restraint in a grouphome it's not abuse it's doing their jobs.. I mean come on people wake up!!!! Restraining a child is child abuse being a recover of over 90 restraints i can tell you everyone of them hurt and even after hurt..

I still have nightmares of being restraint...

Bizz, I`ver wondered the same thing. How is it that any kind of "care giver" (nurse, nurse aid, foster care worker, police, etc) can put another human being in restraints and it`s okay, but if one citizen did that to another citizen or a parent to a child, it would be abuse and the person would be prosecuted. The logic makes no sense to me especially to a child who has already had a tough life. It seems like such a child should be handled with very gentle care.

You would think.... child abusers are just that child abusers.... just somehow they tricked the general public into thinking they are child protectors... it's amazing what people do to make a living.. and get what they want...
