Like any art, it doesn't matter who created it or inspired it, it matters who is forwarding it, who is making it more than what it was. Atmosphere, among others, are.

Nah. Em didn't become a slave to the label. Time and life experiences changed Em more than the label ever could. Fact is, Em mellowed out. Which is understandable. Recreational drugs and anger fueled Em's genius. But if anyone thought he was going to stay like that forever, they're just idiotic. Shit, Slug changed since he first came out but he's not on a major label. He's still great. Em drops relatively solid material now, it's just not up to that standard of his earlier work.
