  • @Kievest I honestly cannot think of any other Italianate voice able to really sing the work correctly... such warm, burnished golden low and middle tones...

    Then again... there are few Slavic/Russian voices able to sing it also... just my taste... a real baritone... rather than a limited tenor. Just magnificent... I cannot listen too much though... he is very intense... it upsets me at times ...lol.

  • The combination of darkness and brilliance in Bastianinis voice will always thrill

    listeners around the world. The virility and masculinity of Ettore Bastianini is rare

    in the world of opera. He was a vocal giant and a most moving artist.

  • A noble, vibrant and passionate Yeletzky in the grandest traditions of the role!

    Maestro Bastianini's superb interpretation reveals the beating heart of a man

    who loves deeply and without reservation, and strives to reach beyond the

    emotional gap separating himself and his beloved Lisa. Thank you for

    posting this resonant and expressive performance and to corellithebest

    for sharing with me.

  • Romantic, sublime, HEARTFELT interpretation by the incomparable Ettore!

  • Still monumental...even after so much time....BRAVO

  • This "Queen of spade" was sung in Italian and sounded really good.

    Bastianini's Yeletzky's aria is stunning sensation!

  • Just incredible singing! Uncomparable.

  • What a beautiful aria and how beautiful sung by Ettore;
