  • You rock man but give some credit to the gear as far as tone is concerned. Style and tone are different things. Style is in the hands and tone is in the gear. That's just my humble opinion. Keep on a rockin!

  • @HappyOrangeTheBand Tone is ALWAYS in the hands. The gear is secondary to the player and the hands. That's why most or all players sound the same on any gear they play on.There might be slight differences, but EVH is going to sound the same on any amp, any guitar, etc. Gear is over rated for tone. It is always in the hands without question.

  • I thought the biggest secret everyone was looking for was how he smile the way he does it while playing..

  • @melodikmusic

I remember reading a story about a guitarist that was playing with Phil Keaggy. Phil set his guitar down to go to the bathroom or something, and that guitarist picked up Phil's guitar. ALL HE DID was turn up the volume knob. He said it sounded NOTHING like what Phil sounded like when he played it. So, yeah, I agree with you...tone's in the hands.

  • @melodikmusic Yes you are correct.
