  • It's an uphill battle until we get single people pissed off about how they are treated like 2nd class citizens when compared to married people. Single people are a huge portion of the population, both gay and straight.

  • I consider government favoritism towards married couples unfair. All Americans should be treated equally. If we were all treated equally, government marriage would not be a needed institution. All that would be needed are churches, jewelers, and banquet halls.

  • If the State does not have the right to deny marriages why does it have the power to grant them in the first place? No marriage means no divorce. The State cannot annaul marriages if does not recognize.

  • To combat the gay threat and to avoid sodomites from mocking our values and traditions as well as our marriages we must privatize all marriage.

  • Polygamy? I don't see the problem. Incestuous marriages don't bother me. Pedophile marriage? NO! Why? We can still rely on protecting children. We need to consider the best interests of the child legally.

  • Personally I disagree with the gay lifestyle and think that it is bad for society, but I think government having control of our lives is much MUCH worse, so I can't agree more about privatizing marriage.

  • The privatization of marriage would benefit people who wish to live in polygamy, especially.

There really are only two anchient forms of marriage: monogamy and polygyny. Same sex marriage is a recent development.

    thanks

  • It all boils down to this. Banning people from getting married is a violation of the constitution. It's discrimination. Then again, the US government seems to ignore the constitution all the time. Having said that, the individual churches DO have the right to refuse to marry people, based on their beliefs. You can't make a blanket "lets vote on it" decision on something that deals with individual rights-beliefs.
