  • 200 years a legend in his own right but long gone his era is...

  • Why the strange choice of Lutheran music?

  • Oui. Peu m'inporte le moment présent. Je remets mon âme en les mains de mon roi.

True, Monarchy kept us united. Our defeats came from our own inner struggles and hatreds.

But Henri V did not want a fake monarchy. Is it an error ? Or something tragic?

He wouldn't bow to compromise and I can't hate him for that.

    Thanks for your comment!

  • Vive la Charte! A bas les Bourbons!

  • Charles X was not as flexible as his brother Louis XVIII but he still was not a bad man or even monarch. Was he worse than the criminals of the revolution such as Marat or even the Second Empire's Napoleon III? Probably not. Too bad that his grandson, Henri V, did not accept the throne in 1870 as monarchy might have been the glue to hold France together, esp. after WW1. Changing govts. every year or so in the '20s and '30s helped France on the road to defeat in 1940.
