  • I like the way that you shoot... As well as, the fact that you are using the average lenses (kit), and not all are the $1500 and up, to attain awesome photos. I think the same thing for your flash guns... I am contemplating a lighting setup, and have one 430EX II, but, thought that I might need a studio light (Alien Bees B800)... I think now, I will just get a second 430EX II and some pocket wizards and be done.

Thanks! your videos are helpful... ;-)

  • @tnecius Speed lights are a great budget alternative that gives us the most bang for the buck next to Alien Bees. Other than having longer recycling times and having to own dozens of AA rechargeable batteries, flashes are amazing and you CAN get studio quality lighting with the appropriate modifiers and some common knowledge. I have 5 flashes I keep in my camera bag for my strobists setups where I need lighting on location and don't need to over power the sun.

  • You have a very humble attitude. Keep it up. And great tips btw. Seems like the speedlight works just fine. I was thinking of getting a monolight with about 320w power. What kind of batteries do you recommend for the speed lights. everyone talks about the quantum turbo. Thanx

  • @RainnMakerr

Check out my episode on Equip Tips Week 2 on framedshow . com as I go into powering flashes. In summary, most flashes will only effectively put out around 150watt seconds at full power. For batteries, make sure they are NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) with a minimum rating of 1800mA. I recommend the Sanyo Eneloops as they are the best our there.

  • what are these photoshoots for?

Magazines or personal work for portfolio?

  • @MortallicA91 Some are personal and some are for clients / commercial work. In the end, I try to shoot for myself whether it's paid or not.

  • Excellent video!! Thank you for taking the time to do this. Respect your talent and craft :) I have much to learn as a photographer and this tutorial helped. Like finding the missing pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Just thought the outfit didn't fit too well for the hot rod/pinup theme though. I could be wrong but the outfit looked like something from the 60s, not the 50s or from the era the car you used for the shoot belonged to. Her outfit says Austin Powers to me not Vintage Hotrod/Pinup.

  • LOL at "waddle with speedlite". Love your work man.

  • i think you're great. awesome videos

  • @tnecius please dont waist your money on pocket wizards .....go to ali express dot com and check it out ..you cant find lighting much cheaper and remotes also ...i got stuff real cheap on that site ..let me know what you think
