No, there were no 'nonbelievers' nor were there any declared deists. The revisionism comes when we look back and say "oh, he has some views in common with Deism, HE'S A DEIST!" Yes, the constitution forbids the government for actually setting up a religion, but talking about God, having faith, praying, and trusting in God are all very American principles initiated by those very people who would take offense at being called 'non-believers.' Saying God doesnt 'fuse' the government with anything.
What's not laughable is your distorted & revisionist stance on the origin of our country. Some of the founding fathers were indeed christians, some were deists, while some were non-believers (there was no term for atheists at the time). All, however, recognized the danger that arises when the state fuses with religion. That was the very basis of our experiment with democracy & it has served us well for over 200 years. You, like many, sadly mistake their intentions with those of the puritans.
Newt and his then wife were separated long before she was diagnosed. I wouldnt visit someone trying to screw me in court either.
Anyway, they didnt found a secular society lol that is laughable...they, unlike many secularists, didnt kill of a bunch of people. All but Jefferson were devoutly Christian people...Jefferson was just a dork who was, like today's politicians, out of touch with the people. Hell, he was a slave owner
Since the rest of the media panders to the left wing nut jobs I suppose someone's got to try and even the score. Political partisan is whats killing this country. Such a shame to see American fall apart due to a political pissing contest. We have divided ourselves and we will be conquered .
