@Megamadbat trudy didnt have an affair she was with the judge back in college, back then he as a college professor. she didnt even know monk yet. the judge killed her not because she got pregnant but because the nurse/midwife who said the baby didnt make it (really the nurse took the baby to an orphanage the judge paid her to do it) anyway the midwife was having second thoughts about the situation and was planning to tell Trudy what happened.. So the judge had both of them killed.

trudy had an affair with an lawyer who wanted to get judge. she became pregnant and wanted to get the child. i dont remember much long ago when i saw the ending but end of the story the lawyer couldnt afford that some affair would destroy his carrier so he hired someone to kill her.
