@niallgraham07 @GloriousOtaku I don't think so, even my completely tech illiterate mother managed to install Ubuntu on her own. She uses an refurbished 8 year old Computer with Mandriva installed, without any fuss. And I keep supplying relatives and acquaintances with 2nd hand computers, all run some Linux with the latest eyecandy.

I cannot get enough of your video! Maybe you can help me install it onto my computer. :)

@ReinaDelCid yes, you should say hardware; linux is free, you don't need money to have it but surelly you need a good hardware to take that effects ando some others like the burning cursor ;)

I understand where u coming from but i been a long time user of all windows and slowly converting over to linux and going to make a server in my house linux base . Open source is good and programing etc . windows is meh i will always use but need a alternative . Now you can almost do everything on unbuntu if not more . I use xp,vista , and work on win 7 for my job . I like to not have all that extra bs that windows has to run . I like running and learning new things
I dont need flippy cube things with clear stuff everywhere giving me a head ache ugg. Just give me a simple basic desktop.

3d cubes aren't just for flashy effects -- I use the cube as a task bar replacement.
Its much faster to flip your workspace in 3d then it is to find your application in the taskbar.
Perhaps you are looking for TWM - Tiny Window Manager, that should give you the 1980's minimalistic window manager feel that you desire.

Sorry, the tearing was result of the recorder capturing at (?) fps, compiz (gl) overlay is 90fps.
when i chose sync to vblank, most all the tearing disappeared.
** IT DOES NOT TEAR WHEN VIEWING OR CHOP AT ALL **
