  • I got my end caps off yesterday. The centrifugal switch slide assembly was the problem. There is a small phenolic piece that is riveted atop the brass slide arm and captures the copper spring contactor, well it had vaporized into oblivion. I'm making a new phenolic piece on my CNC mill and should have it back running soon. I will also post my before and after repair on YouTube soon.

    Thanks for your fast response.

  • @imager05 yeah i know the piece your describing. im happy to hear your able to replace the part. they are very well made motors forsure

  • I'd like to repair my CAH and would appreciate some tips on locating parts.

  • @imager05 i dont know where youd find any replacement parts for these unless you get another for parts

  • Have you ever thought about using some jb weld to fix the tabs, that shoud do the job.....

  • i did use jb weld and it did work, but i only have 1 of the 2 broken tabs. so unfortunatly i cant use it as i had planned.

  • I enjoyed your video of the Westinghouse CAH operation. I just discovered that a Kellogg air compressor from the 1920's had a Westinghouse CAH Type 535650A split-phase 1/4hp motor on it. The compressor and motor have worked flawlessly for over 90 years!

But, the motor recently exhibited a lot of end play and trouble starting unless it got a rotational push. I took it off and replaced it with a new Dayton.

Knowing it was old I cleaned up the outside to where I could read the name plate.

  • there is supposed to be 4 mounting tabs one on each corner of the motor to mount it down to something. they are like feet to support the motor and hold it inplace on what ever it is powering. notice the front 2 are both broken off. i cant use it for what i had hoped now.

  • what part of it was damaged in shipping?

  • one of mine had that fate when i was little and another i had ran away and never came back.
