  • The variator that controls the cam timing is prone to wear or jam. Symptoms are a slight loss of performance and a diesel type rattle from the top of the engine, which appears at startup and gradually lasts for longer. It is therefore advisable to get the variator changed regardless of its apparent condition at the 36,000 mile (60,000 km) cambelt replacement. This is not verry expensive but you must change the distribution belt too. Good luck and hope this helps.

Ok, no such symptoms on my car tho. This is just the way the exhaust sounds on the 1.2, especially when filmed with a cellphone.

All in all the little Fiat has worked quite well in (sometimes extremely) cold condition with loads of snow everywhere. Heater could be more powerful tho, and the short tail gets all snowy really fast.

  • does this car work well in the snow and cold ?

  • It sounds like a diesel, maybe because of the cold. Anyway this car in red on the snow looks AMAZING!
