CARSON, Dan Penn, and my late husband, Jonnie Barnett, were nominated for a W.C.Handy Blues Award for "One Foot In the Blues" by Johnny Adams. Carson was the nicest person I ever met and after Jonnie died, was a comfort to me. He was a kind, sweet soul, who was much accomplished, but never was aware of this or showed he knew how much he was admired and how much he gave to us. I love you, Carson.

I recently discovered Carson and Jonnie Barnett's "Back to Normal" as performed by the great Johnny Adams, arranged and conducted by Wardell Quezerque. ("Good Morning Heartache") What an exceptional collaboration by four great artists.
Would you happen to know how one might find a copy of that arrangement?
My heartfelt condolences for your loss. I hope you can find a bit of comfort in the fact that Carson's music still inspires.
Thank you.
May God Bless,
Michael O'Grady

A true original - a true gentleman - a true friend - It was a pleasure and honor to have worked with him - traveled many miles together - always a joy to be around. He is deeply missed but shall live on in his wonderful work.
God bless the man.

that is some of the best music i have ever heard
Dear Michael, I found a link on Rounder Records that gives an option to buy "Back to Normal" on Johnny Adams' "Good Morning Heartache" CD for .99. I hope you can open the link that I am going to try to send you on your channel. I keep getting an error message when pasting the link in this comment box. - Lucy

Hey Carson, thanks for all the great memories, and wonderful songs we shared. thanks for the hospitality, and for the crazy humor, and finally, to quote that joke we often shred..."How do it know!!"
You were the best, Ken Leray

Dear Ken,
Thank you so much for your message. My brother Carson lost his battle with cancer in May, 2007 and lives forever with Christ in the kingdom of Heaven. - Lucy

Hi, I stayed with the family many times and many times would be on the floor in pain from laughing with the antics Carson and I would get into. I have stayed in touch with Kirsten and a couple of songs we wrote are being re demoed and worked again,,,so who knows. Carson was and is a huge part of my life.
A genuine human, the real thing, what a privelege to know him, regards Ken Leray
