The Call of the Fireflies is a puzzle-based singleplayer mod for Crysis. There are no guns, explosions or nanosuits involved. Just an old man who follows mysterious fireflies through mountains and dark caves, sleeping villages and frozen woods, and has to use all kinds of mechanisms to open his path, while battling to stay alive in the winter cold.

  • Breathtaking video. I'm downloading the level right now and reading your article. I'll probably play it later today (It's almost 5:45, and I need to get some work done and play Halo: Reach, so I'll probably install and play this at 13:00). I'll take notes and play as close attention as I can. You can send me a PM if you're interested in reading a report or chatting about it or what not. I'd definitely be willing to draft an analysis for you to review, if you'd like.

I'd sure like to know what you think about it and read what you've got to say about it. You can send that my way by mail (you'll find it in my portfolio) and I'll be happy to discuss your feedback!

  • Really cool stuff, you put a lot of heart into level design!

  • Whoever made this really knew how to create an atmosphere. Very good. Feels a bit Zeldaish at time. I'd really like to play a Ocarina of time style game with this. Makes a refreshing break from capping people in the ass and blowing shit up, in the Cryengine.

  • I would love to see how this compares to dear ester, but unfortunately, I don't have crysis.

Anyone wanna tell me how they compare?

  • Amazing work.

Myst running on Crytek engine :)

One inconvenience : the blur won't disappear, i'm never dry (except the first time around the camp fire)

The workaround : save and reload :p

  • what's the name of the song ? :o

  • It looks sick ! Song used ? :)

  • I finished this yesterday, it took me like 30 minutes, and it was freakin amazing, im gonna re-play it, and also show it to some friends, and the graphics and scenery is pretty unbelievable, the ending was just epic, this is the best mod i've ever seen for a game!

  • damn this looks really good, but i dont play singleplayer maps maybe you can make a multi player map out of it too.great work.
