  • Cute monkey! Can I ask how you sewed on the buttons - I'm having trouble getting my needle in and out behind the button!! thanks

  • @nerkola30 Sure. It helps to to sort of pinch the fabric with the button in your left hand, to make it bulge. Poke the needle in at a sideways angle. If you're REALLY having trouble with it, you can poke the needle up through any spot that's hidden behind the button, and once you've pulled the thread taught, you can reposition the needle and THEN poke it up through the hole. The thread will be secured as you poke DOWN through the next button hole. Of course, you'll need to tie (read next comment

  • @nerkola30 ...tie the thread off on TOP, rather than on the back of the fabric as you would when sewing a garment. To do this, wrap the thread around the button in a loose loop, then tuck the needle under the loop and pull to make a knot that will slide under the button as it's pulled taut. Good luck! Feel free to post your monkey pics on MadeByMarzipan!

  • All the songs are by Jack Johnson, from the Curious George CD... I thought it was fitting for a sock monkey tutorial :)

  • I bought this pair at a dollar store. They also had the traditional brown and white socks, as well as some fun fuzzy ones :)
