Bassets have high "social IQ's." They are capable of very sophisticated social interaction. Watch this dog carefully: the head is articially high, the mouth open, the nose wrinkled, and the "growl" comes from high in the throat. This dog is PLAYING PRETEND. Any dog (or dog-savvy human) can tell the difference immediately. I have a basset and "Ferocious Basset" is one of her favourite games. She is 11 years old and has never, ever, shown the least bit of aggression toward anything or anyone.
That is not good. your dog doens't recognize you as the pack leader. and for a breed this nice thats extreme bad behavior. Still a very cute dog however
Bad dog behavior.... only acceptable because of the dogs breed. If this was a Rottweiler or a pit bull... people would be screaming.. BAD dog owner. A dog should never EVER be allowed to do that, it is a show of dominance and food aggression/guarding. If his owner went in closer, there is a good chance that he'd be bitten by his own dog! A dog should never show aggression towards his owner. OKAY OLLIE, GIVE IT UP! Not going to work....
