@banway there's people who actually care aboutr the music more. it's like eating gourmet food on ikea furnitures: if you care about the furnitures, you don't deserve the food.

Opera has a long tradition of revolution and controversy. Criticising new influences is criticising the history of Opera

Yeah, I agree. I think the Glyndebourne 2006 production is the best version of that duet I've heard.

I agree with Mutewoman's comment. Personally, after watching the Glyndeboune 2006 version, I can't appreciate any other production, which is unfortunate!
This contemporary production made sense, given the plot of cruel love games. But the singing and acting were not that good. Even Pisaroni underperformed. I wonder why they did it again this year.

I dont like the guy playing Ferrando...but all the rest are great...especially Maite Beamaunt..I loooooove her <3

...but that ending to the Ferrando/Fiordiligi duet is a bit smutty. I guess I'm a prude.
nothing is more horrible than modern type of opera-staging!!! it makes me just turn it off right away , what an eclectic ? what's the need for it ? it's the same as mixing expensive delicious food with MacDonlads, i am sorry for comparison ...

I wouldn't go quite as far as that, but when they talk about swords, there should at least be some kind of weapon around. Historical versions can be modern and even sexy, too. Just check out the Glyndebourne version !
