ok i have a gm car only got one from the dealer so i can program anew transponder key thats cut correct its not gonna make so my gooone wont start the car will it ????
Unfortunately, doing transponder key programming on own doesn't always work. You can always go to the dealership, but it can cost you quite a lot. Plus, you'll probably need to tow your car in, adding to the cost. There are some car locksmith specialists out there who can handle this on the spot for you. Green Car Locksmith San Diego (619) 330-0565 is one such place!
it depends on year and model pats 1 which are the first ones installed around 98- 99 you just need 1 key pats 2 needs 2 keys and from there on you need cloning tools
you nee 2 working keys to program a third, put each working key in one at a time for 3 seconds each, turning the ignition to "run" not start, then after that put you new key in turn it to run and giv it 10 seconds then off then start
As far as I know all modern transponder keys can only be programmed by their associated vehicle, and it requires TWO valid key sets to start the programming sequence. If you lose one or both valid keys, only a dealer or qualified locksmith can help you. The reason is that the security of the vehicle is compromised with any lost key, and the new one and any remaining ones are cut and programmed with a new code.
With Ford you need two original master keys to enter the learning mode. Put first master key in ignition, turn to ON for three seconds, quickly take key out and put in second master key turn to ON for three seconds, quickly take out key and insert the new key turn to ON for three seconds, new key should now be programmed. If not, repeat all three steps until it does. You have to be quick when switching between keys!

General Motors only requires 1 key to initiate programming and it cant be a valet. Fords back in like 96 and 97 only took one key.
