Bell's Amusement's Flying Coaster called Ski Jump at Bell's annual Super Family Christmas Carnival at Bateman's Bay on the New South Wales south coast.

Built by the Eyerly Aircraft Company of the USA, Bell's Ski Jump would be one of the oldest remaining amusement rides in Australia and the only one of it's type in Australia that is still operating. The Ski Jump only runs once a year at Bell's Christmas Carnival.

  • when was this built? it looks fantastic. I take it it has been refurbed over the years. You have some very nice rides there kept in immaculate condition.

What's the grasscutter twist in the background called?

  • Yeh this company Bell's are one of the biggest operators in Aus and keep they're rides in top shape. The owner told me but the year escaped me, the manufacturer was Eyerly Aircraft Company? Was built in the late 50's/early 60's.

The Scrambler is just called Cha Cha, very original name for them here in Aus.

  • what an interesting ride!

  • My sister live in that carnival

  • Nice ride but when all the seats are full does the operator deliberately make the seats stop on the top of the ski jump so that the riders up there can't get off!! It looks quite high right on the top of the ski jump so I wouldn't want to get on or off from a seat up there.

  • Thats one of the funnest rides, :)

  • Iknow where one more is

  • This attraction is actually built by Norman Bartlett and there is only 3 known to be in existence in the world. 1 at Kennywood in Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh USA, Bell's Ski Jump and another one in storage that used to be at Downunderland in Australia.

  • Jack's Dad created this ride in Salem, Oregon in the early 1960s. Not very many were manufactured. I could not find it in the blueprint records, but it is in some of the Company archives in the marketing literature.

  • Thanks!
