  • hi their i have this computer and i have upgraded the ram to 1gb (x2)

i have installed windows 7 on it but its not transparant. do i need a new graphics card and which one as i dont know. apart from the ram everything is stock

  • @boybetanow Yeah, I do not know if this computer can even handle the Windows Aero interface, but most likely it would have to deal with your graphics card. Do the System Windows Rating Index. Should show you your score, and the minimum for Aero interface. The best graphics card I could find was: ATI Radeon 9250. That was years ago though. Problem is that it HAS to be a PCI graphics card, and not PCI-E. Good Luck!

  • hey i have the same computer. and i was looking at videos to adding RAM> to increase performance. so i was thinking can u just add ram but not taking the ones alredy in there, i see two other sockets on the bottom right hand corner can a 1gb 250mb x2 go in there?? any help..

also is there a way to connect this dell 3100 pc to a tv,, with a HDMI to DVI ??

  • @LvinC Unfortunately PCI Slots and not memory slots. Memory slots are always stacked right by each other. Most computers nowadays have at least 4 slots, but the 3100 only has those two.

In regards to your second question, the only way his to vga to vga (if your tv has a vga port. The only video card I could find was VGA, but that was years ago. So there could be a PCI HDMI video card out there, but I am not sure. Sorry sir.

  • lmao, i have the same comp, the cover is a pain in the ass to put back. im looking for some video card/gaming card. do you suggest any ? i need a cheap yet one that works well. ty

  • @EraticalCrisis Heck yes it is.. Makes me mad sometimes lol. Yeah I said it above or in one of the replies. The best I found was the ATI Radeon 9250 PCI card. They are really cheap now, but honestly I would say to purchase a new computer if you can. Graphics cards are insane now a days, but if you don't have money I understand. That is definitely the best PCI graphics card I found several years ago. Good luck!

  • You forgot to discharge the static electricity in your body before working on your computer.

  • wow ooooooooooooooooollllllllllllddd i think this max capacity is only 2gb

  • hey i have the same computer and i was looking at videos to add RAM, to increase performance , is there a way to add ram without removing the ones already in , i see two sockets on the bottom right hand corner and i was thinking on adding a 1gb of two 251mb x 2 is that possible.

also is there a way to connect this pc to a tv, with a DVI to HDMI cable ?

  • @Dnguyennnnn Yes, they make RAM for this computer for sure. I honestly forget what type of RAM it was. I think PC2700 or something, but you can find out by going to: Start > Run > msinfo32 > Hardware > Memory. Or go to google and find a memory configuration utility that will tell you.
