This isn't part 2, it's part 1.

I totally disagree. Why should the piano dominate over the orchestra when it is the orchestra which has the melody and the arpeggios are only an accompaniment! I think most interpreters have misunderstood this passage. The orchestra should sound louder than the piano in this development section.

I agree this is an outstanding performance. I just have to comment on one section where Kempff leaves me disappointed. Starting at 0:53 Beethoven provided a series of dramatic crescendos led by the orchestra and supported by the soloist. They lead up to 1:23, where there is a sudden dramatic statement that offers up a higher level passion. Kempff sort of disappears in a muddle of barely discernible arpeggios. Contrast that with the dramatic performance by Annie Fischer.

uh, did anyone else notice the audio cut out from 8:53 to the end? :\

what a great orchestra the berlin philharmonic was during this period, full of genuine sound and what an immense power----->today,what a pity, nothing remained.sometimes this liga sounds as a countryband! :((

You have to listen to Rubinstein playing this concerto. Surreal!
Kempf is an amazing interpreter, but Rubinstein is the Master of Masters interpreting Beethoven.

Kempff is to Beethoven piano as what Szeryng is to bach violin. They are both the definitive interpreters of that type of instrument music by each composer.
SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wilhelm Kempff will always be the definitive master for Beethoven.

That piece was really amazing! How did Beethoven write that? Please don't tell me because he's a genius because there's gotta be an explaination.
