Please don't compare these video's with tournament perfomances... Kancho Kanazawa shows the art not any competition stuff... All are good but don't compare 2 diferrent things... The pure budo with the tournaments... oss to all karateka!

I personally, have learned a great deal from watching this man's kata video's. I'm not sure what could be improved upon in this kata performance. Please be specific if you want to criticize, otherwise it's just empty boasting. The man in this video is clearly a master of karate!

This is one of the world's most renowned Shotokan karate practitioners, not an Okinawa Te Practitioner. Karate evolves over time, it does not remain the same.

For competition?? Competition/sport versions include Lucca Valdesi and Michael Milon, not Kanazawa... there is still a human side to Kanazawa's version.

I would love to see your version of Bassai Sho, should you be so courageous to tape your own performance...

@jessica5000000 Yes, my daughter performs this kata at tournaments on a regular basis & she is a green belt with 2nd blue stripe. And yes it is a black belt kata. I believe....the first black belt kata. She also performed a musical kata for the talent portion of a beauty pageant she competed in. She led off with Bassai Sho (open hand) & transitioned into Heian Yondan with her Sai. She performed this "kata mix" to Miley Crys "Can't Be Tamed". It was pretty cool! I will try to upload a video!! :o)

but I do korean moo duk kwan so what do i know about japanese karate lol. our style have adopted bassai dei as one of our katas but we call them poomsae. but we dont do that until we are like brown or red belt. mind that our red belt is before black. and the bassai we do in my art is not as advanced as this one. I didnt even know there was another bassai
