In the first in a series of short, informative videos on privacy, Google talks about what information we collect when you use our search engine and the steps we've taken to protect it. In future videos, we'll talk about why Google keeps logs, what information we record when you're signed into a Google account and steps you can take to increase your privacy when surfing online. Much of this information is already available at our online Privacy Center at http://www.google.com/privacy.html

If you search something on google, and then you see all the search results, when you see the results, you may notice beside them there is a link named "Cached." This is all the stored pages that google have followed other google users onto. they have watched, recorded and stored these pages, taking other peoples important information with them. There is a website online with a database called the GHD (Google Hacking Database.) This database gives users access to all this saved information. Safe?
Ok, I feel that google has no right to talk about privacy at all. Google may take care of data, but the fact that they take that data in the first place is, quite frankly illegal. See, when you search something in google, your activity is followed by little bots sent out by google. Anything you look at, any passwords or usernames you enter are watched and recorded by these bots and saved by google. now this gets me thinking, what for i wonder?
Just google for "Maile Ohye", to get all data you want about her. Her age, education, all possible social networks like facebook, twitter, linked in and all other stuff. Google does not care much about privacy. Some other companies care even less.
The more inequitably power is distributed, the more corrupt a society becomes and it doesn't really matter whether the all-powerful entity is government or a single corporation.
I understand the human impulse to find gods and emperors we can fall on our knees and worship. Who will be all-knowing and all-powerful and who will keep monsters from hiding in our closets. Parental-replacement figures.
But that impulse to be submissive is extremely unhealthy.

You're wrong.
I applaud Google for redacting their own records after 18 months.
But Google has an extraordinary amount of work ahead to delete all of the data that it is inappropriate for them to have.
I have no faith in the idea of having benevolent overlords who we trust out of some kind of religious fervor.

Sadly, power corrupts.
But being submissive is just weakness. And is ultimately suicidal.
