This run had been bugging the crap out of me.

My only goal was to get through it without taking any damage.

Not easy.

Turns out I made pretty damn good time and had a hell of a high score.

For those interested, my time (when gameplay starts) was 4 minutes 19 seconds. Not bad for a no-damage run.

The main detractor from my goal was the magician boss of level 4. If not for him, I would have had this done 3 weeks ago.

Some notes:
-Played on a FCEUX emulator
-No cheats or savestates were used
-Played at full speed

  • Excellent. I loved this game when I was a kid, but never beat it. I did a review of this game a year ago when I first started reviews, but the audio quality was so bad I decided to take it down.

Mr. X? The boss from Streets of Rage? lol. And speaking of him, I can't believe how easy he was lol. You beat him with just low kicks.

  • I played this game every so often as a child. It's fun and the controls are so much tighter than it's arcade counterpart.

Mr. X is the boss from Streets of Rage? Or were you kidding? I think I only played that game once.

For a boss character, Mr. X IS pretty easy. But then again, almost every other boss in the game is ridiculously easy. I wanted to beat Mr. X with jumpkicks to make my video cooler but I couldn't risk it during a no-damage run. Using low kicks was my best shot.

  • Yes the final boss in the Streets of Rage series is a guy named Mr. X, but it's not the same boss in this game lol.

  • That's what I thought you meant at first but I wasn't sure. =)

  • Just like Bruce Lee 'The Game of Death'. It even has Kareem Abdul Jabbar in it. I wonder if Bruce and Kareem received any money off of this game.

  • Nice. Very nice. Even if the game is really simple, getting through an entire loop with no damage (with no tool assistance) is never a cakewalk.

The Magician's actually a breeze IF you can get close enough (that's the tricky part). I actually thought the Giant would be a bigger pain.

I didn't know you could just jump over Tom Toms. Heh. Dumb kids.

  • that was friggin awesome!

  • Kung Fu is one of my favorite arcade and NES games. This brought back memories. A job well done on your no-damage run!:)

  • i just got this game a week ago (along with rad racer, ninja gaiden and dragon warrior) and im addicted.
