The tragic death of a young man named Tyler Kahle has transformed care at Methodist Hospital. After coming to us for treatment, Tyler died from an undetected rupture inside his chest, a tearing of the aorta called thoracic aortic dissection. He was just 19.

Methodist Hospital is working to raise awareness and help health care providers understand and act on the knowledge that aortic dissection can occur at any age. I lost my grandson at the age of thirty last April of aortic disease. He was also in the hospital and told he had the flue. He was rushed into the hospital five days later and died within an hour. My grandson had a four year old son that misses his dad so much my heart breaks for him. Mr & Mrs Kahle we feel your pain and will keep you in our prayers. Ann Reny
