An excursion group including Chairman of TCG Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Thu, Chairman of ASEAN-HTF as well as ASEAN Secretary General Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, UN Under Secretary General, Executive Secretary of Asia-Pacific Economic and Social Commission Ms. Noeleen Heyzen, TCG and ASEAN-HTF members and representatives of UN agencies and INGOs left Yangon for Bogale on Thursday to observe rehabilitation tasks in Bogale Township, Ayeyawady Division.


In the briefing hall of the commanding office of the relief camp in Bogale Township, Chairman of Bogale Township Peace and Development Council U Soe Thein briefed on the completed rescue and relief tasks and ongoing rehabilitation activities and replied to queries raised by Dr. Surin Pitsuwan and Ms. Noeleen Heyzer.


Later, at the Bogale Township People's Hospital, they observed specialists team from the Ministry of Health giving medical treatment to the storm survivors.


Next, they viewed students learning at the No.1 Basic Education High School and renovated buildings across the town in a motor-cade.


They then proceeded to Setsan Village in Bogale Township where they inspected students learning in temporary class rooms in the place of the damaged village high school and houses for the storm victims being constructed under the arrangement of the State with donation made by national entrepreneurs.


Later, in Kyein Chaung Gyi Village, they observed houses for storm-victims under construction with donation made by national entrepreneurs and teaching in temporary class rooms of the damaged village primary school.


On their way back to Yangon, they made an aerial view of rehabilitation in storm-hit towns and villages, ploughing monsoon paddy fields and fishermen fishing on rivers.
