I thought there should be a Scalloped shaped ingredient for it to be called scalloped.

Hi MsPinkPansy! How are you? I'm not quite sure why this recipe has 'scalloped' in the title. Possibly because it is topped with buttered cracker crumbs, or maybe the sauce. Some areas in the US call this corn pudding, and some areas call it scalloped corn. It's a yummy recipe though and has been in my family for generations. Hope you can try it sometime!
