In a campaign that saw more than half of eligible Calgarians turn out to vote, University Professor Naheed Nenshi has won the job of Calgary's 36th Mayor. He bested former Alderman Ric McIver and TV anchor Barb Higgins in one of the closest three way races in recent memory. Here are some of the sights and sounds from the various campaign headquarters.

  • I love Naheed Nenshi. He is fiscally responsible and wants to do the good things for the city at the same time.

  • you can stick your secondary suites where the sun don't shine!!! A person pays 300'000 or more for a house and can't even come home and park in front of there own bloody . What a slap in the face

  • yes calgary is deferent than yesterday coz till yesterday calgary was secure but today its hostile. god bless calgary

I almost voted for Ford, but I voted Pantalone cause he would have been a better mayor.

From word of mouth, many people didn't like how David Miller focused on downtown Toronto, they wanted a mayor who would focus on other parts of the city as well. Including the area outside of the downtown. So Ford promised that and he got a lot of people to vote for him.

And his message was clear, cut wasteful spending. We'll just have to see what happens during the next 4 years...

  • @gundamWWW i know, but Rob Ford is the total opposite of what Toronto wants..... they didn't show it because the majority who voted for him doesn't know what policies he has in store for Toronto, some of them just follow what their neighbours or families vote......

  • @waterlizardz123

lol, but we have a mayor.

    ROB FORD!

  • Naheed Nenshi, we need you in Toronto...

  • @EF2000CanFly.....nobody is forcing you to work with/for anybody you dont want to. Nobody is forcing you to even live in the City whom Mayor you dont like because that mean you dont agree with the MAJORITY of people in the city anyway.

Being redneck is not a solution. Mr. Mayor deserve respect and support even from the people who didn't vote him, that's what happens in true domocracy.

World is very short for people like yourself - I wish I could do something to ease your pain

  • @EF2000CanFly

    Idiot

  • Nenshi earned a very well deserved victory. Media tried to give impression that he had no chance. But people didn't bulg...!
