Is this some sort of Orange propaganda? Shame on you for bringing Sarah Mclaughlin into this. This is some biased, revisionist garbage if ever I saw it. I am a republican,...and oh by the way,...I am Protestant,....

1969203 Many of the low landers..believe or not especially Dumfries and Galloway had started off in the highlands and drifted down through economic reasons and they can trace their line back to the Dalriadans who came from Ireland in the first place..their names were Anglicised. Many were and are cruithin decendants so in a sense they were returning.

ulaidh warrior the scots planters who came in the 17thcentury were not cruthin the lowlands around galloway and dumfries were anglo saxon and brythonic the picts lived further north the dal riata lived on the west coast from kintyre up to skye and according to recent study this part of scotland was culturaly part of ireland going back into prehistory
The Picts Of Scotland did'nt call themselves "Picts" it was a name put on them by the Romans likewise Cruithne did'nt call themselves "Cruithne" (Picts in Irish) it
was the name the Gaels gave them indicating thery were a wholly different people.

@1969203 What Viola says is right, the Cruithne (Irish for pict)
did settle Ireland first and had a good ecosystem in place
long before the Gaels came in. The Cruithne + Ulaidh combined
to fight the invading Gaels. There were many tribes but
interlinked to cruithne and Ulaidh.
