The 37th annual Kern County Basque Festival was held in Bakersfield during the 2009 Memorial Day weekend. Several thousand people enjoyed the unique culture, great food and colorful dance performances that are a hallmark of this classic Kern County event. Professional handball players -- including a doubles champion from the Basque Country in Spain -- thrilled the crowd. The Boise band "Amuma Says No" played everything from lively fandangos to Basque-flavored country tunes.

  • I live in Basque Country and I am really touched about the quality of your traditional basque party. I could say that you have some better traditional party than we can have here. I think we are doing things when we getting loosing them. Keep continuing this, you could be the saver of our traditional memories. Ikusten zaitudelarik, zuhekin izan nahi nuke.

  • Who would look like South French People/ North Spanish pple? What do such pple commonly look like? Are you referring to my comment re: Atlanteans?? Kinda embarassed about that coz of how eccentric and crazy it makes me sound to other pple.

  • Um they would look like South French/North Spanish people... My moms side of family has this, and she does get asked what she is a lot - her mom just looks more mediteranean, but had blonde hair really tan and blue eyes - and their nose is a little different from other mediteraneans - it's smaller.

  • Are all basque's related? You all seem to share similiar facial characteristics
