In-car footage from Car 44, Mark Biernacki and Jeff Hagan on Stage A1, Upper Old Hastings.
This was our first and only stage of the rally. About 2.5 km in, we got a flat. After changing it on-stage, we continued and Mark realized that the car wouldn't steer - it had a broken control arm and the tire was rubbing badly against the fender.
We pulled off again so that Mark could have a try at freeing things up around the tire. However, we were still rubbing a bit, because the interior of the car quickly filled with tire smoke as we limped to the end of the stage.
To add insult to injury, the vibration of the disintegrating tire managed to work the hood pins loose, and it flipped up as we passed the finish board.
We managed to drive the car to service, but we had bent the car badly enough that we couldn't continue.
Note: I've edited most of the video out at our two stops on stage, hence the jump cuts.
@RobertoDelTaco Just wondering if you got out to compete this year at the 2011 tall pines?

Flat tire at 2:40 then tire rub until the end with a hood pop at the end 12:40! Bad luck on the first stage of an event full and drama filled few days.
