Remote sensing, satellite imaging and scientific visualization are used to provide scientists with data on climate change, sustainability, fresh water reserves and a host of many other geological applications, says Cam Cronin at the Vancouver Planetarium and the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre. For example, the recent 2010 Mexico earthquake actually shifted earth's crust by 31" which was detected by GPS satellites. There is so much to learn about our planet earth, the Universe, Canadian astronauts and space exploration technology. New at the H.R. MacMillan Space centre is an exhibit of a space elevator system (opens July 1, 2010 and throughout the summer) as an energy efficient and sustainable way to moves cargos and transport material from a celestial body's surface into space.
