PlusHospital Floor Death Blamed on Blood ClotsHospital Floor Death Blamed on Blood ClotsThe Associated PressThe New York City medical examiner says a woman who died unnoticed on a Brooklyn hospital floor was killed by blood clots caused by a long period of physical inactivity. (July 11)A disturbing scene caught-on-security-tape: a woman collapses face down on a hospital floor and dies. Now the New York City medical examiner says Esmin Green was killed by blood clots. Green sat in a waiting room for nearly 24 hours when she fell from her chair and slowly died June 19th. The 49-year-old then lay on the floor at the Brooklyn hospital for an hour before a nurse finally checked her pulse. [Notes:NIH graphic] After an autopsy and weeks of tests, officials concluded Friday she died after a blood clot formed in her legs, then traveled through the bloodstream to her lungs. The blood clot was caused by a long period of physical inactivity. And it was complicated by an underlying psychological illness: chronic paranoid schizophrenia. There was national outrage after the recording of her death became public last week. Her family is calling for criminal charges in the case... And they intend to file a 25-million dollar lawsuit. ___ ___, The Associated Press.

  • why the fuck would no one help her? Man people are so fucked up!

  • I work at a hospital and I can tell you that this can easily happen to anyone...People who work in hospitals are assholes...there are some who really like their job there are some who come to work and only think about how much of it they can get away with not doing. Nurses and doctors go missing all the time where I work, they leave and you have to overhead page them to find them sometimes. Such bullshit the kind of people we have supposidly CARING for our loved ones.

  • there was three people sitting right there & and didn't even try to make a move. didn't even call a nurse or anything.

  • @PrimalForce1 I know how everyone feel I'm still in pain and suffering from the hands of St Vincent Hospital Nurse who didn't want to do his job right so I have to live in Indianapolis like this and not know to address it because I told the town and complaint to everyone at the top to the bottom and no one has help me... I'ts so sad to see people run down good people just to be right. vote to have everyone watch it removed at compensated

  • @joevil2025 I agree, there was NO reason or excuse for this woman to die. The people waiting or the security guard should have called the doctor ASAP! This is so sad

  • That is just horrid! Why was she in the waiting room for 24 hours?? Why didn't any of the other patients waiting call for help? Seriously, she could have been saved if someone spoke up!

  • Man...i would like to give the bastards sitting there a piece of my mind.. that's ridiculous....

  • clerks -dumb

    aides-dumb and lazy

transporter or porter -dumb,drunk ,lazy and crazy

student docs -confused,think they are better than anyone, dumb

    nurses-overowkrd ,tired,dumbed down by adminstration

    supervisor- lazy

  • Fucking 1 hour... before anyone notice ?

  • @PrimalForce1 look up "the bystander effect", this might help you understand.

It's easy to criticize, it's hard to understand.

  • 1) Fat bitch in beige watched it all, beginning to end for an hour, and did NOTHING! She is the most at fault.

    2) Security guard noticed her later, on floor, then scooted away. 2nd most at fault.

    3) Paranoid schizophrenia = afraid to seek help/just sat there for 24 hrs. She shouldn't have been unsupervised that long if she was an inpatient (wearing gown). Inattentive staff are 3rd most at fault

On the other hand. . . if she had been safely in her bed, in a room, she still would have died.
