Basics of Photoshop #03 - Drawing with the Pen Tool

There are a few ways to create illustrations in Photoshop, but the primary method for creating vector graphics is using the Pen Tool. We're going to take a look at how to use it by drawing my friend Christine.

God I am such an idiot. I've been trying to draw on my tablet like i do on paper but have been smashing my face against the keyboard after I could never get the perfect line curves and those damn pixels would keep breaking on me. Now I know what to do. SKetch with pen and tablet. Then use photoshops pen tool to create those vector lines. Finally I can get some decent looking comic stuff going.

to use pen tool in photoshop is hardly frustrating...in illustrator is more easy i think...you are surely great dude...

hm. the way you used this tool is kinda cool, but honestly (and i'm trying not to be offensive.) it doesn't look that great at the end.

I prefer, when tracing over a photo, to do it like a painting, actually doing brushstrokes and completely drawing the entire thing by hand. in my opinion, it ends up looking much better. of course, my way doesn't really use photoshop to its fullest, but i think it looks better.
