Shuffle is an interface that explores a new approach to creating and interacting with melodic and rhythmical patterns. The physical interface is very similar to that of the Audio Pad and ReacTable, but the way Shuffle is used to create music is distinct because it allows patterns to be generated note by note. It is, in essence, a step sequencer, but the approach to triggering notes is very different. Shuffle allows up to 2 users to generate rhythmical sequences by placing physical objects onto a table and moving them within a 2 dimensional space. Midi notes are triggered according to the order in which the objects are placed onto the table, their location and the horizontal distance between each of them. A total of 6 separate sequences can be generated. It also allows the user to control many parameters simultaneously and intuitively while also allowing each sequence to have its own step length setting. Each sequence has independent dynamics and effects objects and their parameters which can be manipulated by moving or rotating them.
