I was inspired by EmilyNoel83 and one of her recent videos about underrated products. It made me want to start using my drugstore eyeshadows again, but I needed a way to remind myself. So I decided to make a palette of my favorites to leave out with my other palettes in hopes that I would remember to use them every once in a while. And it worked! At least 2-3 times a week I have been reaching for that palette and getting some use out of them!

The de-potting process is actually pretty simple, but I just wanted to show you basically how it's done. Get creative- you can use anything as a palette! Below are links to the ones I mentioned but a quick google or youtube search about making your own palettes will give you lots of inexpensive and creative ideas!

For higher end eyeshadows, like I mention in the video, this may or may not work. It wont work for MAC, for example. And in looking at my other higher end eyeshadows, I don't think it would for those either. Only because the packaging is more hearty and the glue is a lot stronger. So do a youtube search on "how to depot _____ eyeshadows" and you'll probably find the best way to do it!

  • The metal pans are not magnetic. There is magnetic sheet inside the MAC palette and the pots will not stick to it by themselves which is why the pan form of MAC eyeshadows come with a magnet on the back.

  • Thank you so much, I literally just did this!

  • I am going to use a less shallow metal tin for my eyeshadows. On the other side of the tin I will secure a row of wide elastic to hold my brushes ,eyepencils, etc. so everything for my eyes is in one neat container :)

  • this is such a great idea! im going to try it! :)

  • CoverGirl is the best! Drugstore products is all i can afford which kinda makes me sad because i see all the girls with expensive makeup and me with low brand stuff :/

  • or if you don't have a metal palette you could use the glue on the back of the eyeshadow to stick it to the palette :)
