Margaret Thatcher's gaffe after her Bruges speech and what it feels like to be referred to as "That Man!" by the Iron Lady as you're mid-way through your morning shave...

Peter Sutherland was the youngest ever EU Commissioner when he was appointed for Ireland in 1985. During this time as Commissioner he came into direct conflict with the then Prime Minister of Britain.
In this extract from his Gresham College lecture on 'Leadership at a Time of Transition and Change', Peter Sutherland offers some anecdotes about Margaret Thatcher at that time.

The lecture, introduced by Professor Ken Costa, took place in London in 2011. The full lecture can be watched or downloaded from the Gresham College website here:

Gresham College has been giving free public lectures since 1597. This tradition continues today with all of our five or so public lectures a week being made available for free download from our website.
